The most geographically remote islands in the world have a huge piece of my heart. As a young boy, I spent a few months a year alongside my father in this island paradise, his home. He taught me how to swim, dive, spearfish, bodysurf, surf and forage for coffee and all my favorite fruits. And while I’m not a shaggy toe-headed grom anymore, I love and respect these islands for what they have given me over the years. And I’m talking about a lot more than just the images of surfing perfection you just scrolled through. Aloha nui loa and malama pono.
